San Angelo Firefighters Rescue Trapped Worker

SAN ANGELO, TX - A Good Samaritan noticed a commotion at 3201 N. Chadbourne St. and decided to look closer. What she saw was a man trapped underneath a large piece of machinery.

She dialed 9-1-1 on her cell phone and the San Angelo Fire Department came to rescue a trapped man.

According to Battalion Chief Johnny Fisher, the firefighters figured out a way to lift what was described to him as a “well puller” off the man.

He had been trapped since 3:15 p.m., reports over the emergency services radio channel indicated.

The man was injured. He complained of pain to his right hip and leg. San Angelo EMS stabilized the victim and loaded him up on an ambulance headed for the Shannon ER.

The incident happened at Circle C Enterprises. According to the business website, the company retrofits medium trucks for industrial operations using custom truck beds.

SAFD did not indicate if the victim’s coworkers were assisting the trapped worker or not. It appeared that the trapped victim was working alone when the machinery fell and trapped him.

The 9-1-1 call happened at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Update 11:50 p.m.

Nicole Porter was the Good Samaritan who discovered the trapped man and called 9-1-1. Here is her story about the incident as she posted on her Facebook page:

So the craziest thing happened to me earlier today. I was walking down my street to see if my son made it to his float for the LV [Lake View High School Homecoming] Parade, when I heard someone yelling, help. I thought I was hearing something else, and he kept yelling help, help me, in a kinda faint voice. So I walked over to the shop where it was coming from, and there was a man trapped under a pretty big, heavy crane, that had fallen over on him. He said he had been trapped for 3 hours. I called 911 & they came and rescued him. Thank goodness. I told my dad, which he wasn't far, and he came and used a floor jack to relieve a little pressure. I told him we didn't want to move him, just incase something else could happen. Good thing we didn't. They were worried about his blood rushing once they freed his legs. He was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. His wife showed up on scene, thanked me for coming to his rescue. Please pray for him and his family. And it Was just a year ago this past summer, I saved that elderly man that was being mauled by dogs. God has a purpose for us on this earth, we just have to trust, believe and follow his plan.
