What the Former Green's Grocery Transformed Into

SAN ANGELO, TX - Back in the middle of July, Green’s Grocery and Café gave the sad news that they would be closing their doors. But now, Green’s Grocery has transformed to 4240 Meats & Sweets and will open Tuesday, Aug. 30.

New hours for 4240 Meats and Sweets will be Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. The employees at the transformed store worked in various departments at Green’s Grocery and were hand picked by management to continue serving the community. As before with Green’s, a drive-thru will be open during hours of operation.

Jessica O’Malley, an employee at 4240 Meats & Sweets, explained, “We are bringing back a lot of people’s favorites from whenever we were Green’s Grocery and Café.”

Although that's the case, the new venue will serve meats and bakery items only.

“[People] can come in and get fresh cut meat, as well as bakery items made from scratch,” O’Malley added. “Our meat market is still offering all of the really great cuts of meat that [San Angeloans] are familiar with, on top of our house-made, house-smoked products. Our signature [meat] has to be our house-smoked bacon. The bakery has a signature Ganache cake that is so good.”

4240 Meats & Sweets will not only have meats and desserts available. O'Malley stated, “We will [also] have classic espresso drinks [like] a latte or a cappuccino, those kinds of things.”

O'Malley also noted, “It won’t be a full service café as it was before." The store will be more of a “grab and go type situation.”

Along with the new store opening, an online store is still available for the public to access and order from. If anyone accesses the old Green’s Grocery online store, they will be redirected to the new online store for 4240 Meats & Sweets.

“I would say that 70 percent of our options are available online. One of the neat features is that you can order your pastry or [meat] online and pick it up in the store,” O’Malley added.
