A Brownwood Man Gets Life in Prison for Choking Fiance's Daughter

This past Friday, a Brown County jury sentenced 44-year-old Dwayne Hardeman to life in prison for choking his fiancé’s daughter.

Hardeman, a Brownwood resident, was convicted of assault of family violence.

“The jury assessed punishment of life after hearing evidence of his prior convictions and other offenses he committed but was never charged with,” said prosecutor Elisha Bird.

According to a news source in the area and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Hardeman's previous convictions include 10 years for possession of cocaine in 1992 and five years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 1993.

Additionally, Hardemen was indicted in Brown County for assault of family violence in November of 2014.
