Arrests: Family Violence, Alcohol, Drugs, Warrants and More

 

Local law enforcement had a busy start of the week. Since our update yesterday, 33 more people made their way to the Tom Green County Jail.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said at around 2 a.m. on August 8, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of W. Ave B for a domestic disturbance. Officers investigated and determined Michael A. Gonzalez, 41, assaulted a female. Gonzalez was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.

This is Gonzalez’s third arrest in Tom Green County. His previous arrests include Public Intoxication and Fail to ID.

At around 3:15 a.m., officers were also dispatched to the 3300 block of Arden Rd. in reference to a suspicious person standing in the middle of the roadway. 

“Officers recognized the man [as] 52-year-old Lonnie B. Haley from previous incidents,” said Gonzalez. “He was shirtless, waving his arms, and pacing in the middle of the road.”

Gonzalez said police learned Haley had taken methamphetamine and was clearly a danger to himself and others. Haley was arrested for Public Intoxication. Police also discovered Haley had tied a rope to two construction barrels and suspended the rope across the roadway, causing a hazard to oncoming traffic.   

This is Haley’s 43rd arrest in TGC. He has a history of public intoxication, DWI, criminal trespass and evading arrest.

Around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, officers were also dispatched to the Parole Office located at 938 Arroyo in regards to a wanted subject. 

“The suspect, 45-year-old Johnny Fennell, was located. His “BLUE Warrant” was confirmed, and police placed him under arrest. 

“During a search incident to his arrest, officers located a small amount of suspected narcotics, which field-tested positive for the presence of heroin,” said Officer Gonzalez.  

Fennell was also arrested for his parole violation.

In another case, officers were dispatched to H-E-B, 3301 Sherwood Way, at around 3 p.m. yesterday in reference to a shoplifter. Officers identified the suspect as 41-year-old Bryan McClure. McClure was issued a criminal trespass warning and arrested for Class C Theft and an out-of-county warrant for non payment of child support. 

This is McClure’s 46th arrest in TGC.

At around 3:30 p.m. yesterday, officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of North Chadbourne for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found a male subject sleeping in a parked vehicle.

“While identifying the subject, dispatch confirmed outstanding warrants for his arrest,” said Gonzalez. “During search incident to arrest, officers located a small amount of suspected narcotics, which field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.”  

The subject, 31-year-old John Eric Juarez, was arrested for outstanding warrants and State Jail Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1. He was transported to TGCJ without incident. 

This marks Juarez’s 19th arrest in TGC.

Finally, just before 11 p.m., a patrol officer observed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed traveling north on Bell Street. It quickly turned onto Mayse Street without properly signaling an intent to turn. 

“The driver and passenger were identified and the driver was found to have six city commitment warrants,” said Officer Gonzalez. “During a search incident to the driver’s arrest, officers located marijuana and drug paraphernalia.” 

The vehicle’s registration sticker was also discovered to be altered. The driver, 28-year-old Fabian Garcia Gomez, was charged with Driving While License Invalid (Prior Conviction), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B Possession of Marijuana, Display Fictitious Motor Vehicle Registration and his outstanding warrants. 

This is Gomez’s 14th arrest in TGC.

Overall, out of the 33 arrests, 12 people had new complaints, five had both new complaints and outstanding warrants, and 16 people were arrested on outstanding warrants only.
