On Monday, August 8, San Angelo ISD will be offering a free seminar presented by Brenda Bird focused on "Parenting with Love and Logic," said a press release today. The seminar will be held from 5:30 p.m.—7:30 p.m. at the ASU LeGrand Alumni Center, 1620 University Ave.
According to the release, parents will learn new skills to help them in their quest to raise responsible kids who become capable, confident adults.
During the seminar, parents will learn how to:
- avoid un-winnable power struggles and arguments
- set enforceable limits
- help kids learn from mistakes rather than repeating them
- stay calm even when kids do incredibly upsetting things
- put an end to arguing, back talk, and begging
- guide kids to own and solve their problems
The seminar is for parents with children of any age.
The Love and Logic® approach to parenting is built around the science of crafting caring and respectful relationships.
"Brenda Bird is a teacher, parent, and motivational trainer with 30 years in education working with families and school staff to help raise responsible young adults," said the release. "She is trained and certified in Discipline with Love and Logic, Active Parenting, Practical Parent Education, Positive Discipline and Parent to Parent.
