Border Patrol Seizes Liquid Meth Worth Over $600,000

U.S. Border Patrol agents working checkpoint operations in Eagle Pass on Sunday seized over $600,000 worth of liquid methamphetamine, said a press release.

On July 24, at approximately 10 a.m., agents from the Eagle Pass South Station encountered a Jeep Wrangler at the primary inspection lane. The driver and its occupants were questioned regarding their immigration status when a service canine alerted to the possible concealment of narcotics or humans within the vehicle. The driver and its occupants were then referred for further investigation.

Upon further inspection, agents located horse shampoo bottles in the rear cargo area of the vehicle that showed signs of tampering. The shampoo bottles contained a crystalized substance that field tested positive for liquid methamphetamine. The driver and a passenger were arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The shampoo bottles contained a total of 69 pounds of liquid methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $662,400.

“The profit from these narcotics are more important to the criminal organizations than the negative impact they have on communities,” said Acting Del Rio Sector Chief Matthew Hudak. “I commend our agents for their hard work and dedication in removing these drugs from our streets.”

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. To report suspicious activity, call the sector’s toll free number at 1(866) 511-8727.
