- Saturday, July 30, 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, July 31, 2:00 p.m.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door one hour prior to each performance. Tickets can also be purchased on the SABA website located here, or by calling (325)763-4807. All tickets purchased in advance will be held at the box office until the night of the performance.
Overall, 98 kids, ages eight to 18, have dedicated their time for the practice and performance of the Mulan musical.
Angela Brooks, Executive Director of SABA explained, “The musical is an adaptation of the movie. So for the people who have seen the film, it is almost exactly the same. However, a lot of the time you have additional songs added in. Mulan is a great musical for the entire family. It talks about loyalty, friendship, honor and family.”
Brooks said SABA is a non-profit educational performing arts facility that encourages young students to reach their goals and dreams.
“We teach theater in a professional way, and that’s how our performances evolve,” Brooks added.
She also said, “It’s really neat for the audience to come out and see how we pull a performance piece together here at the coliseum. The kids take this super seriously. It’s a job for them. They are trying to give the community a gift from the performing arts.”
Mulan the musical will be the last SABA performance until December of 2016.
Registration for SABA is available right now.
“We have a full dance program [that includes] ballet, tap, jazz, modern, Hip-Hop, and lyrical [dance],” said Brooks. “If anyone wants to get their children involved with the performing arts, we start back the 29th of August.”
As the August semester begins, auditions for the Christmas production of Elf the musical will commence.
