Shelter Dogs Looking For Walking Buddies Tomorrow

Tomorrow, July 9, is predicted to be a beautiful summer day in the Concho Valley with weather forecasts starting off in the mid 70s. For those who are animal lovers, early risers, enjoy the outdoors, and are looking for a free 'family oriented' morning of fun, look no further. Concho Valley Paws and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will host a different kind of event that will benefit many.

CVP Intern Alize Salazar said, "Members of the community are invited to select a shelter pet to join you for a one-half mile or one mile guided hike."

Salazar added that the event will start at the south shore of the San Angelo State Park at the Chaparral Pavilion. Per their Facebook page, organizers list, "This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet and interact with a shelter pet. All of the pets at the event will need a foster or forever home, so please encourage your family and friends to join us."

Additionally, CVP requests, "Remember to please bring your driver's license, or photo ID, to the event. We must have that information when you're checking out a pet to hike with."

Salazar stated, "This event will start at 9 a.m., run till about noon, and then, in the afternoon, from 1 p.m.- 5 p.m., we will be showcasing shelter pets in need of a foster or forever homes at Petco."

Concho Valley PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) is a 503(c) non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for adoptable pets and encouraging public awareness of spay and neuter.
