According to a press release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, CBP officers seized cocaine valued at more than $190,000 at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
On June 28, at about 8:45 p.m., officers at Camino Real International Bridge inspected a 2011 Dodge Avenger, which was driven by a Mexican citizen, as it arrived from Mexico. Officers utilized a non-intrusive imaging system for inspection and a K-9 unit. CBP officers retrieved 10 packages of cocaine from the rear passenger seats of the vehicle. Officers also seized a total of 25.40 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $195,840.
“This interception of dangerous drugs truly exemplifies the teamwork of our officers working at our port,” Eagle Pass Port of Entry Director John Brandt said. “Our officers employed a combination of observational skills and high tech tools to uncover this load and prevent it from going any further.”
CBP officers seized the vehicle as well as the narcotics. The driver, a 29-year-old man from Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico was turned over to Maverick County Sheriff’s Department for further investigation.
