A driver of a Toyota Prius went to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries this evening after running a red light and colliding with a Jeep Compass on Koenigheim and Harris Streets.
Officer Pollitt with the San Angelo Police Department said the driver of the Jeep was traveling northbound on Koenigheim and had a green light. The driver of the white Prius was traveling eastbound on Harris, crossing Koenigheim, but she disregarded the red light. As a result, the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Officer Pollitt said the driver of the Toyota was the only one transported to the hospital. However, both drivers will be issued citations. The driver of the Prius will be given a citation for disregarding the red light, and the driver of the Jeep will receive a citation for no insurance.

I've finally got it figured out! What San Angelo needs is an ordinance that would allow our Police to write tickets to those involved in auto accidents anytime it is suspected that one of the drivers might have been at fault. That's right, "SUSPICION WITHOUT EVIDENCE!" There could be provisions in the ordinance that would allow the officer to write a ticket just on the drivers looks, type of automobile being driven, the color of the automobile, the year model, make, body tattoos, piercings, hair style, shoes worn/shoes not worn, clothing worn, clothing not worn, body smell, etc! If you stop and think about it, the "TEXT & DRIVE ORDINANCE" passed by our City Council had not purpose than to "deter" texting while driving. Clearly, the ordinance is not being enforced so I feel that an ordinance of this type would serve just as well as it would "deter" drivers from doing stupid things like "TEXTING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRIVING."
