This morning, the Supreme Court tied 4-4 in a decision regarding President Obama’s executive decision to provide a legal path to prevent deportation for individuals brought into the United States as children. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, was introduced in 2012 and expanded in 2014.
This tie will place the DACA and DAPA procedures on hold, preventing applicants from applying for DACA status. DACA and DAPA would provide a legal path for immigrants to obtain legal status in the United States.
Texas was one of the 26 states that challenged the initiative. The states challenged the president’s legal authority to provide an initiative of that nature. The decision comes at a time of political turmoil with the impending presidential election and the pending approval of a new Supreme Court judge.
The Texas Catholic Conference expressed disappointment with the decision.
“The Texas Catholic Conference does not advocate for political positions; we advocate for vulnerable families and children.”

The SCOTUS made a critical decision today that, for now, puts DACA and DAPA procedures on hold, preventing applicants from applying for DACA status.
I have no doubt that this issue will be revisited after the November elections. Citizens, there is a "right way" and "wrong way" to obtain US Citizenship. Personally, I have no issues with those from other countries wanting to become US Citizens but they need to go thru the legal process just as millions of others before them have done. Obama's use of his Executive Power in this matter was improper and a slap in the face to American citizens!

PermalinkPresident Obama has deported more illegal immigrants in his term than many of the previous presidents . He is known as " El Negro " by many of the deportees . Getting back to the supreme court , their rulings mean nothing to those states that want to impose their own rules on their populaces . They spend millions of their state's funds on fighting the Supreme Court . That's alright by me , but use your own dam money ! We need to deport Abbott and Costello , I mean Abbott and Paxton .

PermalinkMilo, yes Obama has deported more illegal immigrants but this all came about as the result of 911. That has pretty much changed now, as has his policy for immigration. He now favors allowing these immigrants to enter our country "ILLEGALLY." He even went as far as to use his "Executive Powers" to allow this. Let's not forget that 3 "Appellate Court" Judges also ruled that Obama's actions were unconstitutional and that he had abused his powers. There were 28 states that brought lawsuits against his actions and we all knew that it would wind up in hands of the SCOTUS. This is just the beginning of many more decisions that the SCOTUS will have to decide on, thanks to Obama. He wants this as he now knows that we have a more "LIBERAL" Supreme Court any decisions in his favor are to his benefit. I'm also a taxpayer and "MY TAXPAYER" dollars are being used to support these illegal immigrants. How is that fair? It's not and you know it. Bottom line "Illegal Immigration" must stop. If we do it the right way, then you and I, as taxpayers, do not get hit in the pocket as badly. "AGREE TO DISAGREE"
