Fernando Gonzalez, D.O., Shannon Clinic pediatrician, received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics.
The award is given to an individual who has shown outstanding support, dedication and service in the field of pediatrics. Dr. Gonzalez was appointed to the AOBP in 2003 and was elected Chair in 2005. His 12-year tenure ended Jan. 1.
Dr. Gonzalez joined Shannon Clinic in 2010. He is a 1979 cum laude graduate of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Worth. He completed his pediatric residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center in 1982. After a number of years in private practice in Grand Prairie, he joined the faculty at TCOM where he achieved the rank of Associate Professor of Pediatrics before returning to private practice in San Angelo in 2001.
Dr. Gonzalez is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics. He also received the 2010-2011 Harold Finkel Pediatrician of the Year Award from the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians.
