Four people were injured during a shooting at a North Abilene sports bar on Sunday, June 19, at approximately 1 a.m.
The Abilene Police Department responded to a dispatch call for injured subjects at the MC Sports Bar and Taqueria Club in the 4000 Block of North First.
When Patrol Officers arrived, they found a large group inside and outside the bar, and secured the scene immediately.
APD officials said the preliminary investigation revealed that an argument between two males had occurred inside the bar. One of the male subjects, a Hispanic male, entered the bar and began arguing with Vincent Balbuena. He left the bar and came back a short time after later with three other subjects.
Three of them attacked Balbuena, possibly stabbing and shooting him, said officials. Balbuena was taken to Hendrick Medical Center. Also injured during the fight was the bar’s owner, Hector Carmona, as he was trying to end the altercation. Carmona was also possibly stabbed or shot, police stated. He was later flown to Lubbock for treatment of his injuries. Two other victims in the bar were also injured by flying debris, and received non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Abilene Police Department.
Police interviewed several witnesses who were inside the bar when the incident started. Through the investigation, officers identified one of the four suspects in the altercation. His identity is not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. One of the other suspects is described as a Hispanic male with a tattoo covering his neck, a small possible teardrop tattoo under one of his eyes, and he has short hair and possible tattoos on his head.
There have been no arrests made as of 12:30 p.m., but police continue to search for all four suspects.
