Weekend Arrests: Drugs, Weapons, Prostitution and Fleeing Police

This was one busy weekend for local law enforcement, and 77 people made their way to the Tom Green County Jail. Out of those 77 people, 34 were booked on new complaints; 11 people had a combination of new complaints and warrants; and 31 people were booked on outstanding warrants alone.

The individuals to make the list not only included our Southland Burglars (see story here), but two additional individuals, Richard Joseph Pasillas, 25, and Jorge Estrada, 22, were also arrested Friday night on weapons and drug charges after a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Chestnut Street (Sector 3).

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information & social media officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said officers conducted the stop of a silver 2012 Dodge Avenger around 10:30 p.m.

“Upon approach of the vehicle, police smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,” said Gonzalez.

Also during the search of the vehicle, officers located a handgun, Xanax, marijuana, and synthetic marijuana (K2).

“As a result, both were charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2-A, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon,” said Gonzalez.

Additionally, Pasillas was charged with Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1 after officers discovered he was hiding approximately 36 grams of methamphetamine on his person, and Fail to Identify Fugitive from Justice because he lied about his identity.

Some other noteworthy arrests included Stormi Schwertner, 19, who was arrested by TABC for the sale of alcohol to minors. Also, Danny Cornejo, 18, and Elva Luna Adame, 47, were arrested for prostitution. Officer Gonzalez said, at about 12:40 a.m. this morning, officers were dispatched to 86 E. 19th St. for the report of a suspicious vehicle behind the church.

"Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and spoke with the mentioned subjects," Gonzalez said. "During the investigation, officers located evidence to support the pair were engaged in sexual conduct in exchange for a fee."

At the conclusion of the investigation, both Cornejo and Adame were arrested for Prostitution because they agreed to engage in sexual conduct for a fee, Gonzalez noted.

Additionally, Erick Arrango, 18, was arrested Saturday for fleeing a police officer. Gonzalez said, at around 11:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop Arrango on 19th St. and Pecan for expired registration. However, Arrango refused, and continued driving four more blocks before stopping his vehicle.

"Officers were in a marked police vehicle with emergency lights and sirens displayed," said Gonzalez. "All occupants were detained and later released, excluding the driver, who was arrested for fleeing a police officer. The vehicle was towed to Home Motors."
