Woman Arrested for 2014 Death of Pedestrian Gunnar McNeill

A San Angelo woman who was indicted for an Accident Involving Death, a Second Degree Felony, in January of 2016, was arrested yesterday evening on two outstanding warrants last night.

Sunday, at 9:08 p.m., Brandi Nicole Weidner was booked into the Tom Green County Jail after the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office served her with a warrant stemming from an incident that occurred on the night of Dec. 22, 2014 and early morning of Dec. 23.

On that day, Weidner was involved in a crash that killed pedestrian Gunnar McNeill. According to court documents, she “intentionally and knowingly” failed to stop the vehicle at the scene of the crash, or as close to it as possible.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said McNeill was found deceased on the side of the road in the 3700 block of N. Bryant Blvd. He appeared to “have been struck by a vehicle, and the vehicle’s driver failed to stop and render aid.”

Gonzalez added that SAPD received an anonymous tip several days later, which potentially linked a suspect vehicle to the incident. The vehicle was located and officers spoke with Weidner, who told police she thought she had struck a deer.

“Subsequent to the investigation and evidence collected, the investigator requested the charge/warrant,” said Gonzalez.

Lt. Christina Lopez, public information officer for TGCSO, said two deputies went to Weidner's residence and knocked on her door yesterday. They told her she had a warrant for the incident and another outstanding warrant for SAPD. She said, "Okay," and was taken into custody and transported to the TGCJ without issue.  She posted bond for $5,000.

In addition to Weidner, Rachelle K. Garcia, was arrested early Sunday morning and booked into the TGCJ for assaulting a public servant.

Gonzalez said police were called to a residence in the 3500 block of Ridgecrest Lane at around 1:30 a.m. for the report of a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived at the scene, Garcia refused to cooperate and assaulted the officer. Thus, she was taken into custody.

These are two out of 64 arrests made over the weekend. Thirty people were booked into the TGCJ for new complaints, while six people had both new complaints and warrants. Also, including Weidner, there were 28 people arrested solely on outstanding warrants.

ICE is immigration and customs enforcement... So probably an illegal alien they're trying to figure out what to do with... Or a terrorist ;)

More than 12" is a ticket.. there must have been more to it for the person to get booked.

I try my best not to judge. Sorry if you saw me at a low point in my life. But on that note, I don't hide behind any other name, such as big daddy, guess who or princess. I put my name behind my thoughts. Thank you for your so thoughtful comment. I will pray for all involved.

Leave on probation.

Heck, if the druggies would just learn to drive according to the rules, there would never be a drug bust in San Angelo. </sarc> At lest three car chases recently (inc. the Bluffs and Concho Drive) were started as "traffic stops" of known drug offenders for minor traffic violations. So what if it puts innocents at risk; it's "driving the crime rate down," right?

So, it doesn't surprise me that they would arrest someone for parking more than 18" from the curb. Get them in the system, put them on probation, and generate some income for the city...

hmm..maybe he was drunk…maybe he was walking in road…maybe he was wearing black near or on road…maybe he decided to cross the road…hmm…never seen anyone killed by a car…that was clearly at a safe distance….hmmm…common sense prevails again….stay away from roadways…by the way people get killed drunk or sober….
