Angelo State University’s Mu Gamma chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi announced that the international honor society for education will sponsor “KDP Literacy Alive: Growing Readers One Child At A Time” on Thursday, April 21. The event will be held at the Stephens Central Library, 33 W. Beauregard Ave.
The event, aimed at children in kindergarten through second grade, and their parents, will run from 5 to 6 p.m. in the children’s section of the library. KDP volunteers will read to the children and assist them in making an Earth Day-themed craft. The event is free and open to the public, and all children attending will receive a free book.
KDP was founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. The national organization is composed of 667 chapters, and international membership is more than 45,000. The Mu Gamma Chapter at ASU has been in existence since 1969.
