Museum Features Internationally Acclaimed Artists

The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is currently showcasing the art of  two internationally acclaimed artists.

Marco Sassone, an Italian painter, has oil and water color pieces at SAMFA.

According to the museum, the art features “visually compelling  urban landscapes...inspired by the relationship between reality as it is presented to us in the media and the reality of actual experience."

Sassone is committed to serving society through charity. Recognition for his service has been seen as he has received the gold medal award from the Italian Academy of Arts, Literature and Science, and was knighted into the Order to the Merit of the Italian Republic.

The other artist being showcased is Jane Duryea. The museum says her work has a focus “on light and color with a deep connection to nature, created through traditional Italian glass blowing techniques.”

Duryea, originally from New York, studied at Texas A&M University at Kingsville and also spent time in Europe learning to blow glass.

Her works are included in collections within the United States, Canada, Cayman Islands and France.

San Angelo’s museum will include the work of these two artists until Jan. 19. The next exhibit will feature the paintings of H.W. Taylor. The opening for the next vexhibit will be on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5:30pm until 9:00 pm.
