Children’s Learning Institute Comes to San Angelo

The Children’s Learning Institute at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) will be hosting an informational session focusing on resources that are available to the local public school districts, charter schools and Head Start programs through a partnership with the Texas Education Agency. All resources will be free and be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m at Region 15 Education Service Center, 612 S. Irene St. San Angelo, TX 76903.

The Children's Learning Institute was founded in 2003. The Children’s Learning Institute at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) impacts children, families and teachers across Texas and the country through its research, clinical programs, statewide early childhood initiatives, parenting programs and teacher mentoring programs. Since 2003, the Children’s Learning Institute has managed the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Texas School Ready project – a data-driven, comprehensive professional development and child progress monitoring program aimed at increasing school readiness skills in at-risk students. The Texas School Ready project has been validated by multiple research studies to help more children be ready for kindergarten by helping preschool teachers improve their teaching skills and provide a better environment for children’s learning.

The Children’s Learning Institute, in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency, is offering free access to Texas School Ready child progress monitoring, professional development, supplemental curriculum and classroom observation tools to all public school districts, charter schools and Head Start programs in Texas through an innovative online platform known as CLI Engage. These tools and resources have been proven to help preschool teachers improve their teaching skills and provide a better environment for children’s learning, helping more children be ready for kindergarten. The Children’s Learning Institute is also announcing the Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment (TX-KEA), which will join the Texas School Ready tools and resources already hosted on CLI Engage in fall 2017.
