Angelo State University Police Seize Over a Pound of Marijuana from Student’s Room

 

On Wednesday evening, Angelo State University Police officers found over a pound of marijuana in a student’s dorm room at a residence hall on campus.

According to a press release, ASU police were called to a residence hall regarding a narcotics violation. During a subsequent investigation, officers suspected a large amount of marijuana was being stored in the residence.

Officers at the scene called the San Angelo Police K-9 unit for assistance, and one of the dogs alerted officials to several areas in the residence.

The release noted that officials obtained a warrant, and upon opening a safe in the student’s room, officers found over a pound of marijuana, or 18.27 ounces. They also found other narcotics and a sizable amount of cash.

“The student was later arrested and charged with possession of marijuana over 4 ounces, but under 5 pounds,” said the release.
