Angelo State University’s “Latino Americans: 500 Years of History” series will feature Dr. Kathryn Ostrofsky of ASU’s history faculty. According to a press release Tuesday, she will present “A Latino History of ‘Sesame Street’ con cuentos y canciones” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 5, in the Sugg Community Room of the Stephens Central Library, 33 W. Beauregard Ave.
Ostrofsky, who is not affiliated with the show, will tell the story of Latino contributions to the popular children’s television program “Sesame Street” from its launch in 1969 to present day. The family-friendly event will include videos, songs, dancing, storybook reading, games and coloring for the youngsters and hip music and cool animations for their big brothers and sisters.

Dr. Ostrofsky’s dissertation is titled “An Aural History of the 1970s Through the Sounds of Sesame Street.”
