At approximately 1 a.m. this morning, a Dyess Airman was found dead at his off-base residence, said a press release from the 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs at Dyess Air Force Base.
According to the release, the deceased Airman was assigned to the 317th Maintenance Squadron in Abilene. Per Department of Defense policy, the name of the Airman is being withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification.
“Team Dyess extends our deepest condolences and prayers to the family as we grieve the loss of a treasured member of our Air Force Family,” said the release. “Dyess Airmen will embrace and comfort family and friends as our leaders focus on helping those affected by this tragedy.”
Because of the sensitive nature of this death, Dyess said officials will be respectful of the family and investigation process until its completion. That also means no details of the death will be released at this time.
