This has been a busy week for local law enforcement agencies. In addition to the armed robberies in the past two days, San Angelo Police and other agencies have had to deal with people falsifying a drug test, unlawful carrying of a weapon, burglarizing a coin operated machine, fleeing to avoid arrest and more.
In the past two days, 42 people were booked into the Tom Green County Jail. Out of those arrests, 22 people were arrested on new complaints.
One of those people, Robert Weddle-Coleman, 37, made his fifth arrest yesterday after attempting to falsify a drug test that is part of his probation. Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer for SAPD, said officers responded to the TDCJ Parole Office where they were advised a parolee was there with an active parole violation warrant. Solsbery said after being placed under arrest for the warrant, Weddle-Coleman stated he needed to use the bathroom again. He was accompanied by a parole officer into the bathroom where he was seen trying to dispose of a homemade device consisting of tubing and a plastic bottle to help pass his urine test. As a result, the parolee was charged not only for the warrant, but also for falsification of drug test results.
Another individual who made the list, Giliberto Reyes, 17, was stopped by SAPD for driving without tail lights in the 300 block of W Avenue U. Solsbery said the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search.
“During the search, marijuana was located as well as marijuana paraphernalia and a handgun,” said Solsbery. “Reyes was written citations for No Driver’s License, Defective or No Tail Lights, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arrested for the marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon.”
Reyes was booked into the TGCJ for the first time in the early morning hours Monday.
Doel Boisse, 65, faced his 25th arrest yesterday after breaking into Auto Paradise, 525 W. Avenue N. Solsbery said police saw Boisse at the car wash. The man started to run from the location when he saw a police car drive by. Officers, however, caught up to him and discovered the vacuum cleaners at Auto Paradise had been broken into. The surveillance video was reviewed, and officials witnessed Boisse conduct the crime. He was arrested for Burglary of a Coin Operated Machine. Based on his jail record, Boisse has a long history with this type of activity.
In another incident yesterday, Michael Ray Zapata, 27, faced his 14th arrest. SAPD stopped Zapata on Howard and Junius because they suspected him of driving while intoxicated based on his driving patterns. Solsbery said during the stop, Zapata gave a false name and he appeared nervous. The officer opened the door to the vehicle to get Zapata to step out, but he attempted to drive away. Zapata led the officers on a vehicle chase until he was taken into custody.
“Zapata was then correctly identified and found to have a county warrant,” Solsbery said. Zapata was also charged with Evading Arrest Detention with a vehicle, Evading Arrest Detention and Failing to Identify Fugitive from Justice.
