ASU's Entertainment Series Kicks Off Next Wednesday

Angelo State University’s Club Café coffeehouse-style entertainment series will kick off the spring semester with MTV comedian and actor Andrew Schulz, said a press release Friday. The series will start at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

Sponsored by the University Center Program Council, Schulz will perform in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center. The doors will open at 7 p.m. with admission prices of $2 for ASU students and $5 for the general public at the door.

Handpicked by MTV as its new tastemaker, the native New Yorker is taking over the small screen with five shows for the network. Schulz will continue to write and appear for the fourth season of the record-breaking MTV2 series “Guy Code,” as well as for the second season of “Girl Code.” He and his “Guy Code” colleagues prosecute or defend guys by the official “Laws of Manhood” in “Guy Court,” which premiered in the fall. He also hosts “The Hook Up,” an updated version of “The Dating Game,” and “Jobs That Don’t Suck,” focusing on people who have found their dream jobs.

According to the press release, Schulz, who hosted the acclaimed European Movie Awards for MTV in 2012, has made appearances on MTV2’s “Hip Hop Squares,” “Wild N’ Out,” “The Week in Jams” and “Charlamagne and Friends,” MTV’s “Epic Fail,” VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz” and the weekly web series “Whats Good.” He co-starred in the 2015 TV series “Benders” and was cast in the independent film “Victor” with Jeremy Sisto and Tony Hale. He is also a fixture on the New York comedy circuit, regularly performing at The Comedy Cellar, Stand Up NY, The Comic Strip Live, Eastville Comedy Club and Caroline’s on Broadway.
