ASU Graduate Programs Nationally Ranked Among Best Online

Angelo State University’s graduate education and nursing programs have each been ranked among the top programs nationally for their online degree offerings by U.S. News and World Report for its 2016 edition of “Best Online Programs,” said a press release Tuesday.

Overall, ASU ranked 36 among the 267 U.S. colleges and universities identified by U.S. News and World Report as offering online graduate education programs, and ranked 39 among the 147 institutions identified as offering online graduate nursing programs. This is the 4th consecutive year the ASU nursing program has made the “Best Online Programs” list and is the 3rd straight year for the ASU education program.

It is an honor for the College of Education to be recognized for its online graduate education programs,” said Dr. John Miazga, dean of the college. “Preparing individuals for a profession as a superintendent, principal, school counselor, teacher or higher education administrator calls for the very best programs that our college can offer. The College of Education faculty set the highest standards for each program while focusing on the educational needs of each individual. Their hard work and dedication is recognized in this ranking.”

Dean of the Archer College of Health and Human Services, Dr. Leslie Mayrand, stated, “Both nursing chair Dr. Wrennah Gabbert and I were so pleased and honored to have our online graduate nursing program nationally ranked for the 4th year in a row. I believe it is a testament to our outstanding faculty, the high-quality graduate students attracted to our nursing program, and the achievements and contributions of our graduates.”

The criteria used to configure the rankings included weighted scores in the categories of student engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer reputation, student services and technology, and admissions selectivity.

“Offering quality online programs is a big reason why our graduate enrollment continues to set new records every semester,” ASU President Brian J. May added. “National recognition of our programs is gratifying, but more importantly, it reinforces the fact that our online graduate students are getting an excellent education.”

ASU’s graduate education program ranked fourth and its nursing program ranked sixth among the Texas institutions on their respective “Best Online Programs” lists.
