Two Teenagers Race on Loop 306, Driving with Invalid Licenses and Other Crimes

In the past two days, two San Angelo teenagers found the need for speed while a few other people decided to get behind a wheel with an invalid or revoked license. Then there were the people who couldn’t say no to drugs and alcohol. These offenses cost them all a trip to the Tom Green County Jail.

In the past two days, 64 people made that trip to the TGCJ, and 25 of them were arrested on new complaints.

The two teenagers who felt the need for speed, Estella Rios, 19, and Anthony Lopez, 18, were placed under arrest after engaging in a race on Loop 306.

Trooper Justin Baker, public information officer for the Department of Public Safety, said while working patrol Tuesday evening, Trooper Lujan-Luna was traveling on Loop 306 near Knickerbocker Rd. when he observed a white Dodge passenger car and a black BMW enter onto Loop 306.

“Upon entering Loop 306, Trooper Lujan-Luna observed the vehicles get side by side and they began to accelerate in a competition of speed,” Baker explained. “Both vehicles were stopped, and both drivers were placed under arrest for Racing on [a] Highway without incident.”

In addition to the racing escapades, the last two days brought out six drivers with invalid or revoked licenses, which topped the list of offenses.

In addition to the ones mentioned, here are the other crimes that prompted the new complaint arrests.
