Ham Recalled Due to Allergens

Morrilton Packing Co. is recalling approximately 12,146 pounds of boneless ham products, said a press release Wednesday. The recall is due to the product containing soy, a known allergen, but it was not declared on the product label.

According to the press release, the boneless hickory smoked honey ham was produced on Oct. 1 and 4, and the following products are subject to recall:

8-9-lb. Plastic wrapped packages containing a single boneless ham with the label “Cedar Falls Brand Boneless Hickory Smoked Honey Cured Ham” containing a code date I14, I22, or I15.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 10646” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were shipped to a single distributor in Arkansas.

The problem was discovered by plant management during a review of labels, but there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them; throw them away or return to place of purchase.

The press release stated that the FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
