Angelo State’s Green Chemistry

Angelo State and the local student chapter of the American Chemical Society gave green chemistry demonstrations at San Angelo’s Sunset Mall for Community Day.
The demonstrations included materials made from cornstarch easily dissolvable, a solution to overcrowding landfills.
“It’s important to spread green chemistry,” explained Christian Herrera, President for American Chemical Society at ASU. “It’s our gift to our world.”
The booth had good response from the public with many kids watching the demonstrations with fascination.
Every year the club hosts a free Spring Green Chemistry Fair and Symposium featuring keynote speakers, green vendors, undergrad research presentation, and hands-on activities directed towards children and families.
