The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team are seeking help from the public in solving the 1982 murder of Monica "Christie" Wilson in Liberty, Texas, said a press release Monday.
DPS is featuring one unsolved case each month in an effort to generate new investigative leads as part of a public awareness program added last month.
Nineteen-year-old Wilson left the convenience store where she worked, known as "Snappy's", at midnight on Aug. 26, 1982. Her body was found by a passing motorcyclist the next day in Liberty County. Her orange 1969 Pontiac Lemans convertible was also found abandoned in Liberty.
A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for Wilson's death. A tip must be submitted by calling 1-800-392-7867, or by visiting the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers Website at http://montgomerycountycrimestopper….
Information can also be submitted through the Texas Rangers' Cold Case website or by calling 1-800-346-3243.
The Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team was created to assist Texas law enforcement agencies investigating unsolved murders. Investigators pursue these cases to a successful resolution, as there is no statute of limitations for the offense of murder.
The Texas Rangers' Unsolved Homicides webpage was created to renew public interest in unsolved cases. For more information, visit www.txdps.state.tx.us/TexasRangers/….
