Fugitive Racks up Six Charges after Flight from Police Impeded by Fence

Ramiro Isiah Martinez will turn 20 in four days, but unless he can cough up at least $62,000 in bail on six different charges he's racked up, he'll be celebrating his transition out of his teens behind bars.

(Photo/TGCJ)","height":"448","width":"358","class":"media-element file-default"}}]]On Thursday, Nov. 5, the 19-year-old fugitive was stopped on foot in the 100 block of E. Ave. I by San Angelo Police Officer Espinosa. Martinez, who had two warrants out for his arrest including one for second-degree felony burglary of a habitation and a motion to revoke probation for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, gave Espinosa a fake name and date of birth. When Officer Espinosa attempted to take him into custody, Martinez fled on foot. He was captured about a block later in the 1200 block of S. Oakes after a not-so-deft attempt to leap over a fence.

Police searched Martinez following his arrest and located 1.9 grams of cocaine and less than two ounces of marijuana. They also found his ID card, which proved the information he had initially provided was false. Martinez was transported to the county jail and booked at 7:41 p.m. for possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, possession of marijuana, failure to identify fugitive from justice, a November 2013 warrant for burglary of a habitation committed when he was 18, and a motion to revoke probation warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon committed when he was 17.

A bond has been set on all of the charges except for the cocaine possession. 

A total of 22 inmates were booked on Thursday, while 19 were released.
