Dallas Controls Commanders for Christmas Day Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Despite having little to play for after being eliminated from playoff contention a week ago, the Dallas Cowboys played with pride on Christmas Day, downing the Commanders 30-23. Dallas controlled the contest from start to finish to improve to 7-8-1 on the season.

Dak Prescott threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The Cowboys scored on each of their first three possessions to take firm control of this matchup. Leading 21-3 in the 2nd quarter, Dallas was able to take its foot off the gas.

Washington made a valiant effort in the final two quarters, narrowing the Cowboys' advantage to 30-23 before it was all said and done, but never seriously threatened Dallas' lead.

Dallas ran a total of 87 offensive snaps compared to Washington's 41 in the matchup. The Cowboys also dominated time of possession. However, the Commanders fought hard, coming within a score on three separate occasions. Ultimately, Dallas would possess the ball for the final two minutes to end the game. The Cowboys clinched it by converting on 4th down.
