SAN ANGELO, TX — A strong cold front is expected to move through West Central Texas late Saturday night, bringing sharply colder temperatures and gusty north winds that will result in cold wind chills Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
Forecasters said temperatures will remain warm through Saturday, with afternoon highs in the low to mid-70s across much of the region, including San Angelo, Ballinger and Brownwood. Behind the front, high temperatures on Sunday are forecast to drop into the 40s and 50s, with San Angelo expected to reach around 48 degrees.
Overnight low temperatures early Sunday morning are expected to fall into the low to mid-30s across most of the Concho Valley and Big Country, with some locations dropping into the upper 20s. San Angelo is forecast to see a low near 35 degrees, while Haskell and Sweetwater could dip into the upper 20s.
North to northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph behind the front will make conditions feel colder. Wind chill values Sunday morning are expected to range from the upper teens to the 20s across the Big Country, with San Angelo forecast to see wind chills near 30 degrees during the early morning hours.
Cold conditions are expected to continue into Monday morning, though wind chills will be less severe. By midweek, temperatures are forecast to rebound, with highs returning to the mid- to upper 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said conditions will remain dry and sunny through the weekend and advised residents to dress in layers Sunday morning, particularly young children and the elderly.
