Central and Lake View Finish 2-0 to Open Doug McCutchen Tournament

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Central Bobcats and Lake View Chiefs jumped out to a hot start during the opening day of the 15th annual Doug McCutchen Basketball Tournament. Both our San Angelo schools finished the day 2-0.

Central defeated Plainview in the early afternoon slot, 74-54, before coming back in the late afternoon to beat San Antonio Taft 73-68. The Bobcats open up Day 2 against Canutillo at 11:30 at Central High School. The Bobcats wrap up pool play at 3 p.m. on Friday against Lubbock Estacado.

The Chiefs also remain unbeaten heading to Day 2. In the early slot, Lake View came from behind to down El Paso Ysleta, 58-45. In the late afternoon slot, the Chiefs dominated Monahans 58-25. The Chiefs open up Day 2 against Del Valle at 11:30 at Lake View High School. Lake View plays Game 4 on Friday against Bangs at 3 p.m.

If the Bobcats and Chiefs sweep Friday's games as they did on Thursday, both our San Angelo schools will face off in the championship game at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Lake View High School.
