Student Detained After Loaded Firearm Found on San Angelo School Campus

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A student was detained Tuesday morning after San Angelo Police Department school resource officers located a loaded firearm on a San Angelo ISD campus, according to an initial briefing from police.

SAPD reported that around 11:45 a.m., district administrators alerted school resource officers that a student on campus was potentially armed. Officers responded immediately, detained the student and recovered a loaded firearm.

Detectives with SAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division are now handling the case. Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and a formal press release will be issued at a later time.

No additional details, including the campus involved or the student’s age, were released.
