Crash on Knickerbocker Blocks Tracks, Prompts Railroad Safety Check

SAN ANGELO, TX — A crash on Knickerbocker Road near Currier Street snarled traffic Monday afternoon after both vehicles came to rest on the railroad tracks.

San Angelo police issued a Nixle alert at 3:25 p.m. telling drivers to avoid the area due to the crash. When fire and police units arrived, they reported that the vehicles were positioned directly on the tracks and immediately requested information on rail traffic.

Dispatchers confirmed that no trains were scheduled to pass through the area at that time, easing initial safety concerns as crews began securing the scene.

At least two vehicles were involved, including a silver SUV and a passenger car.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the crash is unknown.
