SAN ANGELO, TX — Less than two months after the grand opening of Roosevelt Lofts, concerns have surfaced about repeated elevator malfunctions at the downtown senior living community that have required emergency assistance.
According to a public post shared online, a family member of a resident said the elevators have broken down multiple times over the past several weeks, occasionally trapping residents on upper floors. The individual said the issue has become serious for elderly tenants who rely on the elevators to access their homes.
The building’s management acknowledged that the fire department was called to assist during an elevator malfunction. No injuries were reported.
In response to the incident, Roosevelt Lofts management issued a public statement acknowledging the malfunction and confirming that the fire department was called to assist. The building’s management said the elevator equipment had been inspected and approved by the state prior to opening and that an elevator service company is on-site evaluating the issue.
“We take this incident very seriously,” the post read. “Thank you for your concern, and we invite you to stop by any time to discuss with us.”
The Roosevelt Lofts, located at 50 North Chadbourne Street, officially opened Sept. 25 following a major renovation of the former Roosevelt Hotel.
