SAN ANGELO, TX — Temperatures across West Central Texas started Monday below freezing but are expected to climb into the 60s by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
As of 6:30 a.m., readings in San Angelo and surrounding areas ranged from the upper 20s near lakes and valleys to the mid-30s at higher elevations, including the ASU campus. Despite the frosty start, sunny skies will bring a noticeable warm-up through the day.
Highs are forecast to reach the mid-60s Monday, followed by 70s on Veterans Day and near 80 degrees by midweek. The warming trend will continue through Thursday and Friday, when highs may reach the low to mid-80s.
The weather service also warns of elevated fire danger Tuesday afternoon due to low humidity and gusty south to southwest winds up to 30 mph. Residents are asked to avoid outdoor burning and driving on dry grass.
