SAN ANGELO, TX — Unseasonably warm conditions will come to an end this weekend as a strong cold front moves through the Concho Valley late Saturday, bringing a temperature drop and a possible freeze by Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
Saturday afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 70s to upper 80s before the front pushes through. Winds will shift from the southwest to the north at 10–15 mph by evening.
By Sunday, temperatures will fall, with morning lows in the lower to mid-40s and afternoon highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s. North winds of 15–20 mph, with gusts over 30 mph, are expected throughout the day.
Forecasters say there is a 40–70% chance of temperatures dropping to freezing or below across much of the region early Monday, particularly in low-lying areas near lakes and river valleys.
After the cold start to the week, a warming trend will return by Tuesday. Afternoon highs are forecast to climb back into the low to mid-80s by the end of the week, with dry conditions persisting.
