Odessa Man Leads Police on Chase Through Downtown San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — An Odessa man was arrested in San Angelo after a late-night chase on Nov. 4 that began when he “did not stop but slow rolled at approximately 20 mph” during a traffic stop and later admitted to having consumed alcoholic beverages, according to a Tom Green County affidavit.

A patrol officer reported conducting a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet Silverado driven by 36-year-old Irvhin Tarin. The officer stated Tarin initially rolled at about 20 mph before stopping after a few blocks, but “did not comply with commands to turn off his vehicle and step out.”

The affidavit states Tarin then accelerated “at a high rate of speed” and began to evade, allegedly traveling at high rates of speed and disregarding multiple red lights and stop signs. The chase continued until Tarin blew out his two right tires and stopped in the H-E-B parking lot at 5502 Sherwood Way Service Road after “approximately eight minutes of evading.”

According to the affidavit, Tarin exited the vehicle and again failed to comply with commands. Deputies reported taking him to the ground after he resisted by not placing his arms behind his back.

Once in custody, Tarin “admitted to observing the red and blue lights” and evading “due to consuming alcoholic beverages,” the affidavit states.

Tarin was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center on charges of evading arrest with a vehicle, resisting arrest, and driving while intoxicated with an open container. His bond was set at $15,500, and jail records show he was released the morning of Nov. 5.
