SAN ANGELO, TX - The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.59 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
That price is three cents less when compared to this day last week and is 10 cents less per gallon compared to this day last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in El Paso and San Angelo are paying the most on average at $2.81 per gallon while drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $2.48 per gallon.
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.04, which is three cents less when compared to this day last week and nine cents less per gallon when compared to this day last year.
As October comes to a close, Texas drivers are ending the month with slightly lower gas prices than when it began. Pump prices have cruised steadily downward this month as crude oil costs remained relatively low due to strong supply and soft demand. With these market trends continuing, motorists could see prices drift even lower as November begins—potentially keeping fuel costs affordable during the busy Thanksgiving travel season.
“Gas prices often remain steady or dip during the fall, and this year is no exception,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “With crude oil prices holding relatively low and demand easing, drivers may continue to see some relief at the pump heading into the upcoming busy holiday travel period.”
