SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo woman was sentenced Monday to 180 days in jail for fatally stabbing her boyfriend in 2023.
Eboy Gasca, 27, was found guilty by a Tom Green County jury of Class A misdemeanor assault.
Gasca admitted to stabbing Jermaine Johnson on Dec. 26, 2023, after she said an argument turned physical and they both struck each other inside a vehicle while driving to a store.
After they returned home from the store, Gasca said she grabbed a homemade knife and put it in her pocket. She said Johnson put her in a chokehold while she was attempting to retrieve her cell phone, and that she then stabbed him.
Another woman at the scene, Shevetra Mathis, also stabbed Johnson with a different knife.
Mathis will also face a jury trial Nov. 17 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Johnson was found at the residence in the 300 block of West 13th Street by police officers after an individual called 911.
Johnson later died at the hospital from his injuries.

"There were places in nineteenth-century America where people lived in harmony. Harlan, Kentucky, was not one of them. 'Stop that!' Will Turner's mother [Catherine "Kate" McCoy] snapped at him when he staggered home, howling in pain after being shot in the courthouse gun battle with the Howards. 'Die like a man, like your brother did!' She belonged to a world so well aquainted with fatal gunshots that she had certain expectations about how they ought to be endured. Will shut his mouth, and he died."
