Motorcyclist Killed in Crash Near Westbrook

 

WESTBROOK, TX — An 80-year-old man from Mineral Wells was killed Saturday morning in a motorcycle crash on Farm to Market Road 2183 in Mitchell County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the crash happened at 10:47 a.m. about 15 miles southwest of Westbrook. The victim, identified as Frank Norris Burnside, was riding a 1990 Honda Goldwing GL1800 motorcycle when he failed to navigate a series of alternating curves. The motorcycle left the roadway and overturned, throwing Burnside from the vehicle.

Burnside was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rick Grissam at 11:53 a.m. DPS confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph. Road and weather conditions were reported as clear and dry.
