Abilene Police Arrest Suspect in Second Bank Robbery This Month

ABILENE, TX — A man is in custody after police said he attempted two robberies in south Abilene Monday afternoon, including one at a bank.

Police responded around 3400 South 14th Street on Aug. 25 to a report of a robbery in progress at a business. The suspect fled on foot without obtaining money but soon entered a nearby bank and demanded cash from tellers, according to the Abilene Police Department.

A patrol officer who was already in the area due to the initial call encountered the suspect as he exited the bank and detained him.

Police identified the suspect as 40-year-old Cody Wray Isenberg. He was taken to the Abilene Police Department for questioning, then booked into the Taylor County Jail on a charge of second-degree felony robbery.

Investigators said it is unclear whether the Aug. 11 bank robbery involving a suspect in a “Star Wars” helmet is connected. The case remains under investigation.
