WASHIGNTON, D.C. — Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11), a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate, former fighter pilot, and Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, was voted to be the new Chairman of the Academy's Board of Visitors (BoV), which provides independent advice and recommendations on matters relating to USAFA.
Rep. Pfluger served as a congressionally appointed member of the Academy's BoV for several years before being elected to serve in this new capacity.
"I am truly humbled to serve as the next Chairman of the U.S. Air Force Academy's Board of Visitors," said Chairman Pfluger. "My mission as Chairman is to ensure the Academy not only executes its leadership development, but also continually improves it so our cadets are prepared for the challenges of tomorrow. We will never know when or where the next conflict will arise, or even what type of warfare it will involve. But we do know this: our cadets must be ready to lead in any environment, to think critically, and to have the grit to overcome adversity."
As the new Chairman, Rep. Pfluger attended and led USAFA's BoV meeting at the Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, to discuss the board's role in ensuring the Academy is properly equipped to build up mission-ready warfighters for years to come.
During the visit, Rep. Pfluger and fellow board members met with several cadets, including leaders from Texas's 11th Congressional District.
