Stolen Firearm Recovered in San Angelo Following Ozona Vehicle Burglary

SAN ANGELO, TX — A firearm stolen during a vehicle burglary in Ozona has been recovered in San Angelo, according to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the firearm was located with the help of the San Angelo Police Department following a coordinated multi-agency investigation. The case began after a man was caught on surveillance video early Monday morning at about 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 4, attempting to enter several vehicles in Ozona. One of those burglaries resulted in the theft of a firearm.

The sheriff’s office asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspect shortly after releasing the video. Less than 24 hours later, officials announced they had identified all individuals involved and recovered the stolen weapon.

The investigation involved assistance from a Texas Ranger, Crockett County deputies, San Angelo police, and community members in Ozona. Law enforcement credited the collaboration for the successful outcome.

The sheriff’s office also reminded residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables—especially firearms—and report suspicious activity. The suspect has not been identified.
