San Angelo Man Indicted on Multiple Child Sex Abuse Charges

SAN ANGELO, TX — A Tom Green County grand jury has indicted a San Angelo man on three felony counts involving the continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.

Chris David Roberts, also known as Christopher Roberts, 60, is charged with:

  • Continuous sexual abuse of a young child (First-degree felony)

  • Indecency with a child by sexual contact (Second-degree felony)

  • Indecency with a child by exposure (Third-degree felony)

According to the indictment, Roberts is accused of committing multiple acts of sexual abuse against a child over a three-year period from October 2, 2016, to October 2, 2019. Prosecutors allege Roberts engaged in sexual contact with the child and caused them to make contact with his genitals.

The second count claims that on or about January 1, 2018, Roberts touched the child’s breast with the intent to arouse or gratify his sexual desire.

In the third count, also dated January 1, 2018, Roberts is accused of exposing his genitals to the child, knowing she was present.

Roberts was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on Aug. 4 by San Angelo police and released the next day after posting a total of $75,000 in surety bonds — $25,000 for each charge, as set by the judge.
