LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech had five players selected Monday during the second day of the 2025 MLB Draft, headlined by right-handed pitcher Mac Heuer, who was taken in the eighth round by the New York Yankees.
The selections bring Texas Tech’s all-time number of MLB draftees to 182 and mark the 37th consecutive season the program has had at least one player chosen. It also marks the 10th time in the past 11 full-length drafts that four or more Red Raiders have been selected.
Heuer, a senior from Greensboro, Georgia, was previously selected in the 16th round by the Cleveland Guardians in 2023. In 2025, he served as Tech’s Friday starter, making 14 starts and striking out 48 batters over 53 innings. His best outing came against Houston, where he allowed one hit over six innings with five strikeouts.
Two rounds later, the Tampa Bay Rays selected Trendan Parish in the 10th round with the 297th overall pick. Parish, from Poolville, Texas, made 65 appearances over four seasons at Tech, recording 136 strikeouts and 10 career saves — tied for third-most in school history. He posted a strong finish to the 2025 season, allowing just three runs over his final 14.1 innings.
Two more Red Raiders were taken in the 15th round. Outfielder Damian Bravo was selected by the San Francisco Giants at pick No. 446, while right-hander Jack Cebert went to the Yankees at No. 464.
Bravo, a First Team All-Big 12 selection, batted .330 with 13 home runs, 51 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases in 2025. The 2024 Big 12 batting champion tallied 28 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles.
Cebert, a transfer from South Florida, earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors after going 7-1 with a 2.58 ERA in Big 12 play. All seven wins came in relief, making him the first Tech reliever with seven wins in a season since at least 2017.
Right-hander Zane Petty rounded out the Red Raiders' selections, going in the 18th round (552nd overall) to the Cleveland Guardians. A former 13th-round pick by Milwaukee in 2022, Petty made 14 appearances and 12 starts in 2025, striking out 46 over a team-high 62.1 innings. He threw a career-best eight innings in a series finale win at Arizona State.
All five draftees have until July 28 at 5 p.m. ET to sign with their respective clubs.
