Man Killed When Van Collides With Freightliner in Lynn County

 

TAHOKA, TX — A Lubbock man was killed Friday when the van he was driving collided with a truck tractor at the intersection of US 380 and FM 179 in Lynn County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Jonathan Torres, 29, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Express van north on FM 179 around 1 p.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection and struck a westbound 2020 Freightliner truck tractor towing a trailer, DPS officials said.

Torres, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The truck driver, Matthew Ulman, 61, of Temple, was transported to Lynn County Hospital District in Tahoka with minor injuries. He was also wearing a seatbelt.

The speed limit at the crash location is 75 mph. Weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident, investigators said.
