SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo ISD trustees will vote Monday evening on a proposed agreement with Wall ISD to correct a clerical error in the boundary line separating the two school districts.
The item is the sole action item on the agenda for the June 9 special meeting, which begins at 5:45 p.m. at the SAISD Administration Building. According to the agenda report, the Tom Green County Appraisal District discovered discrepancies during a routine property audit.
The inconsistencies were discovered during a routine property audit and were found to be “in relation to current Texas Education Agency district boundary lines between the two districts,” according to the district.
District officials, in consultation with Walsh Gallegos law firm and the appraisal district, developed a solution under Texas Education Code Section 13.231, which allows two contiguous school districts to agree on minor boundary adjustments. The proposed memorandum of understanding formalizes this agreement and will be submitted to the TEA if approved.
The board had previously authorized the superintendent on May 19 to negotiate the agreement and return it for a vote. Monday’s approval would mark the final step before filing with the state.
Also on the agenda is a Finance and Audit Committee workshop, which will include reports on bond finances, construction updates, and routine financial activity. No additional action items are scheduled.
Trustees will also preview the proposed agenda for the June 16 regular board meeting, which includes recognitions, program updates, financial items, and several contract considerations.
