WATCH: Wildfires Stress Rural Volunteer Fire Department

ROBERT LEE, TX -- It was in 2011 when wildfires burned close to 2 million acres of Texas land. Here in the Concho Valley, rural volunteer fire departments along with The Texas Forest Service battled the Wildcat Fires that originated in Coke County claiming over 150,000 acres.

Fast forward to June of 2020 another massive wildfire blazed through Coke County calling on volunteer fire departments from not just nearby Robert Lee but Grape Creek, Carlsbad, Quail Valley, Dove Creek, Bronte, East Concho and the Texas Forest Service.

The McDaniels Wildfire burned over 4,000 acres of land in Coke County leaving the local volunteer fire department in Robert Lee stressed to pick up the tab on damaged equipment due to fighting the wildfire.

The Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department is asking for any kind of assistance to help with costs to get repair their trucks.

Donations can be sent to the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Dept, P.O. Box 331, Robert Lee, Tx 76945.
