AUSTIN, TX — Martin County produced more than 20.9 million barrels of crude oil in March, topping all Texas counties, according to preliminary figures released Tuesday by the Railroad Commission of Texas.
Statewide, Texas operators reported 132,082,778 barrels of crude oil from 156,038 wells and 1,080,627,999 thousand cubic feet of natural gas from 84,395 wells. Crude oil averaged 4,260,734 barrels per day and natural gas averaged 34,858,967 thousand cubic feet daily.
The figures cover only oil lease production and exclude condensate, which is reported separately. They are preliminary and subject to revision as operators submit late or corrected reports.
The top 10 crude oil-producing counties in March were:
- Martin — 20,968,388 barrels
- Midland — 19,110,986 barrels
- Upton — 9,635,321 barrels
- Loving — 8,573,298 barrels
- Reagan — 6,595,182 barrels
- Howard — 6,191,990 barrels
- Reeves — 5,833,790 barrels
- Karnes — 4,926,074 barrels
- Andrews — 4,828,611 barrels
- Glasscock — 4,737,960 barrels
Webb County led in total gas production (gas well gas and casinghead) with 88,814,158 thousand cubic feet.

Reeves County led condensate production with 6,808,749 barrels.

For comparison, updated figures for March 2025 showed 146,202,383 barrels of crude oil and 1,124,661,596 thousand cubic feet of natural gas.
